LIFElabs.io Partners with PALA Eyewear to support women and children in Africa.

PALA, an ethical eyewear company that supports life-changing projects in Africa has announced a partnership with financial technology and blockchain-based company, LIFElabs.io.

PALA has officially adopted the digital currency mobile app, LIFEwallet® created by LIFElabs.io, enabling supporters to donate cryptocurrency including LIFEtoken®, Bitcoin, Ethereum and ERC20 tokens to two important and meaningful charitable projects being spearheaded by the company.

The first project will support a School vision programme in Ethiopia, raising essential funds for a new School Eye Health project. Why? Because 12 million children worldwide struggle to see the blackboard clearly to learn at school. School children living with a visual impairment, a disability which can be corrected with a simple eye test and pair of glasses, are often left behind in the classroom and do not have a fair chance in the education system, to make a good start in life.

PALA and LIFElabs.io are looking to raise £5000 to cover all of the elements that make up a comprehensive school screening program including community mobilisation, training teachers and community health workers to screen students; refractions; referrals and glasses. The registered charity set to launch this new appeal is Vision Aid Overseas whose aim is to raise enough funds to support 20 schools by March 2020. PALA and LIFE will endeavour to create awareness and funding to support this project.

 

The second project is looking to raise funds to provide two freshwater wells for three weaving communities that PALA works with through their partnership with local NGO, Care4basket. When visiting the weavers in Bolgatanga, Ghana last year, the founder of Pala, John Pritchard, learnt about the fundamental need for localised drinking water. In a region that is increasingly suffering from drought due to climate change, families have to undergo a round trip of up to seven miles to get their water each day. The Zaare Amoabisi and the Zaare Akundenbisi exist in close proximity and would be able to share a well whilst the Sumburungu Aatumpuri, about an hours drive away would require one for themselves.

PALA and LIFElabs.io are looking to raise £4000 which will cover all of the elements involved in drilling and constructing the wells. The building process itself will take just one week for each well.

Both projects will be documented by Pala and LIFElabs on their websites and social media platforms so that you will be able to see for yourselves the huge impact of your donation.

As the partnership progresses, with the support of LIFElabs.io Platform As A Service (LIFEPaaS) team, PALA will enable a merchant gateway, payment platform for customers to purchase their eyewear products using cryptocurrency. This secure payments platform will be facilitated by the innovative and pioneering, blockchain technology.

Together We Can Fight Plastic Pollution and help deprived communities women weavers in Bolgatanga Upper East Ghana who are affected by Climate Change and drought to Exit poverty while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The LIFEwallet® mobile app is available on to download on both Apple iOS and Google Android.
